After Yu-Chien Benny Tseng received a prize at the 2006 Menuhin Competition, he went on to win prizes at many other top competitions, such as the Sarasate, Paganini, Queen Elisabeth, Singapore International and the Tchaikovsky Competitions. A graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music where he studied with Aaron Rosand and Ida Kavafian, Yu-Chien has appeared as a soloist with orchestras including the Philadelphia, London Philharmonic, Mariinsky Theatre, Czech Philharmonic and the Singapore Symphony Orchestras. He has worked with conductors such as Valery Gergiev, Jiří Bělohlávek, Mikhail Pletnev, Esa-Pekka Salonen,and Lan Shui. He plays on the “ex Jules Massenet” 1735 Nicolo Gagliano on generous loan from a private collector.
