Angelo Xiang Yu has won the First Prize, Bach Prize and the Audience Prize in the 2010 Menuhin Competition. An acclaimed soloist, Angelo has appeared with major orchestras in the United States and internationally, including leading orchestras in China. His chamber music activity has taken him on prestigious stages and led him to join the world-renowned Shanghai Quartet. A student of Qing Zheng at the Shanghai Conservatory and of Donald Weilerstein and Miriam Fried at the New England Conservatory, he is the first violinist from mainland China to ever receive an Avery Fisher Career Grant. After serving as Donald Weilerstein's teaching assistant, he started teaching at the Tianjin Juilliard School.
