Acclaimed soloist Ray Chen is a two time graduate of the Menuhin Competition, having won Third Prize in 2004 and First Prize in 2008. Internationally featured on prestigious stages, Ray works with conductors such as Riccardo Chailly, Vladimir Jurowski, Sakari Oramo, Manfred Honeck, Daniele Gatti, Kirill Petrenko, Krystof Urbanski, and Juraj Valcuha. He is an ECHO Klassik Award winner, and has a rich recording catalogue with Sony Classical, Deutsche Grammophon and his current label, Decca. Active online and across new media platforms, Ray is the founder of community practice app Tonic. He plays the 1714 “Dolphin” Stradivarius violin, once owned by Jascha Heifetz, on loan from the Nippon Music Foundation.
