Leland Chen studied at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, the Yehudi Menuhin School and the Menuhin Academy, where he studied with Robert Masters and Sir Yehudi Menuhin. Leland won First Prize at the inaugural Menuhin Competition in 1983. Following his competition success, he made his London debut with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and since then, has appeared as a soloist with orchestras such as the Philharmonia, London Philharmonic and the London Symphony Orchestra. Since then, he has continued to enjoy a career as a soloist and educator. He is on the faculty of the Royal Northern College of Music.
