Danbi Um

A Curtis Institute graduate, Danbi Um has studied with Shmuel Ashkenasi, Joseph Silverstein, JaimeLaredo, and Hagai Shaham, and was awarded the Second Prize at the 2004 MenuhinCompetition. As a soloist and recitalist, Danbi has played prestigious venuessuch as Kimmel Center, Phillips Collection, Lincoln Center, Kennedy Center,Wigmore Hall, Boston’s Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum and the Harris Theatrein Chicago. She made her recording debut for Avie Records in 2023, andcollaborated with many acclaimed chamber musicians in her career. She plays a1683 “ex-Petschek” Nicolo Amati violin, on loan from a private collection.
