An Oberlin Conservatory graduate and prize winner at the 1987 Menuhin Competition, Carla Kihlstedt has a rich discography - both as a guest, for artists such as Tom Waits, Tracy Chapman, Mr. Bungle, Ben Goldberg, Madeleine Peyroux and more, and with her collaborative projects Rabbit Rabbit Radio, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Tin Hat and The Book of Knots. Carla has composed for the International Contemporary Ensemble, Present Music, the San Francisco Girls Chorus, the Brooklyn Youth Chorus, Variant 6, the ROVA Saxophone Quartet and the Dither Big Band. Carla is on the faculty of the Contemporary Improvisation Department of the New England Conservatory and the MFA in Composition program at the Vermont College of Fine Arts.
