Alex Zhou began his musical journey playing the piano, at age 5, before picking up his sister's violin a year later and immediately forming a bond with the instrument. A Fourth Prize and Composer's Prize winner at the 2014 Menuhin Competition, Alex studied with Zhao-Wei at the Pre-College division of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music - having already performed in notable venues across the United States, including Carnegie Hall in 2009. He has since shared stages with orchestras all throughout the country, had masterclasses with Gil Shaham, David Kim, Pamela Frank, Ning Feng, Chen Xi, and Alexander Barantschik, and graduated from Harvard University.
