Senior's Repertoire for all Rounds

Here is what the senior competitors will play throughout the competition rounds:

FIRST ROUND  
One of the following

  • J.S. BACH from Partita No.1 in B minor BWV 1002  Sarabande, Double, Bourrée, Double   
  • J.S. BACH from Partita No.2 in D minor BWV 1004  Allemande, Courante, Sarabande, Gigue
  • J.S. BACH from Partita No.3 in E major BWV 1006  Gavotte en Rondeau, Minuet 1&2, Bourrée, Gigue

One of the following (First movement only with cadenza)

  • W.A. MOZART from Violin Concerto No.1 in B flat major, K.207
  • W.A. MOZART from Violin Concerto No.2 in D major, K.211
  • W.A. MOZART from Violin Concerto No.3 in G major, K.216

and

  • One Caprice of candidate’s choice from PAGANINI 24 Caprices for Solo Violin, Op.1 (except No. 13, 14, 16 & 20)

and

  • One piece composed or arranged by KREISLER with piano accompaniment

SEMI-FINALS

  • First movement only of a Sonata for Violin and Piano by BEETHOVEN, BRAHMS, SCHUBERT or SCHUMANN, candidate’s own choice**
  • M. RAVEL Duo for violin and violincello, movements 1&2 or 3&4**#
  • Candidate’s own choice of a piece for solo violin composed in the last 25 years (maximum length 6 mins)
  • One virtuoso work of candidate’s own choice with or without piano (maximum length 10 mins)

FINALS

One complete concerto from

  • LALO                   Symphonie Espagnole, Op.21 (movements 1, 2, 4 & 5)
  • MENDELSSOHN    Concerto in E minor, Op.64
  • PROKOFIEV          Concerto in G minor, Op.63
  • TCHAIKOVSKY     Concerto in D major, Op.35
